YOUR STORY?
An exhibition of Waltham High School student work lead by Laura Jorge under Supervising Practitioner Colleen Barber
I am currently completing my student teaching at Waltham High School in Waltham, MA, where I am fortunate to have the opportunity to create and implement my own lesson plans in Visual Art, Ceramics, and Digital Photography for grades 9-12.
I am committed to helping every student succeed in the classroom through differentiated teaching strategies and a curriculum that is immersive, student-centered, and supportive.

In addition to my Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University (May 2022) and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications Design, I have 10+ years of experience as an art director and designer at multi-disciplinary design and advertising agencies in Boston. I aim to utilize my expertise by introducing students to innovative art making and design thinking methods. I also have experience working in printmaking, painting, ceramics, media arts, and photography.
I believe that art education should be immersive, experiential, and hands-on. It should demonstrate the importance of process, failure, and growth. My classroom is a space that celebrates divergent thinking and values existing knowledge, while allowing students the space and tools to grow as individuals. As an educator, I believe that there is more than one way to tell a story and that we all have a unique perspective to share with the world.
